A Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Lord, have mercy on us, sinners. On our own we have no right to come before you. We are wretched and diseased. We mock you and worship your creation. Have mercy on us, for your Son has paid the price of our transgressions. Though we don't deserve it, you have touched the coal to our lips that we may be clean before you. Continue to sanctify us, purify us oh God.
We ask that you would watch over our brave men and women serving to protect this great nation. They are here, in Iraq, Afganastan, and throughout the world. May your hand of protection be with them wherever they go. May you work through them to spread freedom and peace in such dark places. May your light shine through your children and spread to those who have turned against you.
We ask that you would comfort the families who have lost loved ones to the wars. May your Spirit be peace and guiding light to them.
We ask that you would watch over President Bush and his staff. We thank you for putting one of your children in office at such a time as this. We ask that you would protect him physically and spiritually, as so much of the world depends on his actions. Give him wisdom and grace to act in the ways most glorifying to you.
We ask that you would continue to raise up men and women who have a passion for your truth. In a culture that has long forgotten you, equip and send out your army to proclaim your truth. Give us strength and endurance as the battle is long and hard.
You alone are holy, and you alone are worthy of our praise. We thank you for your blessings that we do not deserve, especially the sacrifice of your Son. Alpha and Omega, we give you honor and submit ourselves to you. Be glorified.
Amen.
