Chronological List of Lewis's Essays, Short Stories, and Narrative Poems

Excluded from this list are the shorter poems of Lewis, simply because I'm not sure a chronological list of such is possible, or if it were, if it would really be helpful for anything. These writings are usually listed by original publication date. However, for many, the months are unkown, and for a few the years are uknown (namely the disputed essays). These are listed after essays of the same year for which the month is known. Each essay has a note as to where it can be found in the volumes of collected works. American titles are always used Eventually, I hope to add where each essay was originally published as well. Arend Smilde's website has been incredibly helpful for creating this list.

Careful readers will note that several books are not included in this list. They are: Screwtape Proposes a Toast, Of Other Worlds, *The Grand Miracle, *First and Second Things, *Timeless at Heart, *Christian Reunion, Compelling Reason. I left these out because all of the essays in them are found in other accesible volumes. With the exception of only 1 essay those marked with * can be found in God in the Dock. With the exception of several of Lewis's literary essays, most of these writings can be found in Essay Collection (HarperCollings, 2000). I have ommitted it from the list because this has not yet been published in America. A similar collection, of poems, is scheduled to be published in London in 2006.
